Afterdate.

Your journal, your business

Privacy information.

Effective September 21, 2026 · Afterdate

Afterdate is operated by Brian Eells. Questions about privacy can be sent to afterdate86@gmail.com.

What stays on your device

Afterdate stores the people, date notes, photos, ratings, and preferences you enter on your device. It does not provide an account, public profile, advertising, or analytics service. The app’s journal functions do not automatically upload your entries to the developer.

Unlocking and local encryption

Journal snapshots are encrypted locally. Access to the interface uses your phone’s authentication. Anyone who can unlock the phone with its passcode may be able to unlock Afterdate. These controls do not guarantee protection on a compromised device.

Photos

Camera and photo selection are used when you choose to add an image. Afterdate saves a resized copy in the journal. Your original library photos remain under your control in the Photos app. Temporary image-processing files are cleaned up on a best-effort basis.

Backups you choose to create

You can create an encrypted backup and choose where to save or share it through the operating system. The destination may be a cloud provider or another app with its own privacy terms. A separate recovery code is required to restore the file; anyone with both can open it. The developer does not hold that code and cannot recover it for you. Backups contain saved records; unfinished forms are excluded. There is no automatic journal sync.

Deleting your information

Delete a date or person inside Afterdate, or delete the entire journal from Your vibe. One previous encrypted snapshot is retained for interrupted-write recovery, so an individual deletion may remain in that local recovery snapshot until overwritten. Delete-all removes local journal snapshots and their key, subject to any reported storage errors. It does not delete original photos, previously exported backups, or operating-system backups. Manage those separately where you saved them.

Your ratings and preferences

Scores express your own observations and preferences. Afterdate does not verify information about another person or make automated eligibility decisions.

Contacting support

If you email support, your email provider and our email service process the message, and we receive the address and information you choose to send. Please do not send private journal entries, photos, device passcodes, or backup recovery codes. For questions about a support message you have sent, contact the same address.

Other services

The operating system, app store, backup provider, and development tools have their own data handling. Expo Go is a development environment and is not the shipped Afterdate app. This support website is hosted separately from your journal; visiting it does not give the developer access to the journal on your phone.
